Marine Services Experience

The Newport News facility was founded in 1974 as Dynamic Engineering (DEI), a production shop supporting aeronautical engineering R&D at NASA LaRC. As we grew, a strong engineering component was added to the company. In the 90’s, the company’s emphasis on engineering surpassed production. we became a world-recognized leader in support of airframe and propulsion design, analysis and testing. Now, as Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News, we have achieved balance. Our extensive family of experienced mechanical, test and aero engineers is perfectly matched with a broad portfolio of large, state-of-the-art production tools and proven shop personnel. And the balance works.

In one facility, we can provide the shipbuilder or support organization the capability to analyze, engineer, design, prototype, test and build medium- to highly-complex ship components and systems. It's a combination that works

Past Performance

USN Carrier Gearboxes
Provided design input and manufacturing services for the Main Throttle Valve Operating Gearbox and Electronic Control Panels.  Tolerances of less than .001” on bores, verification of rotational force and bluing/backlash check on gear sets. Designed to replace the existing hydraulic gearbox system on current and future Aircraft Carriers. The Navy will gradually replace all (130) Main Throttle Carrier Gearboxes in fleet.

Dive Suit Fabrication
The Atmospheric Diving Suit, or ADS  is an anthropomorphic, single-person articulated submersible that allows the operator, or "pilot", to remain at one atmosphere of pressure regardless of depth. Consequently, unlike the typical surface supplied diver the ADS can dive as deep as 2000 feet (or 609.6 meters) for many hours without any of the physiological hazards of depth.

Our Newport News, VA facility machined many of the larger components for this program

LSV-1 & LSV-2 Test Hardware
The LSV was a fractional scale model for testing, the acoustic, hydrodynamic, and propulsor design issues can be evaluated with substantial time and cost savings. We built the sail, dynamometer, wide aperture arrays, and propeller instrumentation.
